- We also were forced into schooling while being taken away. It was terrifying.
- Wow grandpa. Were the schools bad?
- Yes, so bad that we couldn't even speak our native language! We were also forced to become more like the Europeans that came to our land! We were beaten if we spoke our language and if we disobeyed them. It was a horrible sight.
- That must have been terrible. Thank goodness they are better today.
- They are better although it took until 1996 when the last residential school was closed in canada
- Thats awesome. Indigenous children can now go to city runned schools too!
