- Macbeth starts to contemplate whether or not he should kill the king; he thinks it is wrong after how much trust he has in Macbeth.

- Lady Macbeth enters asking Macbeth why he is not not in the dining room.

- Macbeth decides that he cannot go forward with killing the king. Lady Macbeth is surprised with this decision.
- Lady Macbeth snaps on Macbeth calling him a coward for not being able to kill the king. She knows that this will change Macbeth's mind because she is jeopardizing his manhood and his pride.
- Macbeth decided he will not be a coward and he will kill the king with the plan they came up with. He does not want his wife to think of him as a coward.
