- Hello, my name is Martin Luther and I am a significant figure in the Protestant Reformation as leader, meaning I am the first reformer to share my perspective. After achieving a Master of Arts degree at the University of Erfurt, my father encouraged me to commit to the occupation of a lawyer however unexpectedly, my life has been completely changed after an experience with God. I am soon to be ordained a priest in the Catholic Church and am spending a period of my life as a lecturer of theology and scripture within the University of Wittenburg.

- During the deep studies in the position of lecturer, Luther recognised a strong statement whilst observing the letters of St Paul, stating 'the just man lives by faith alone'. He personally was heavily affected by this quote and was caused to believe that faith itself mattered substantially for a Christian. In 1517, a major wave of confusions and questions came across Martin, as indulgences were being distributed in a nearby area. Based on his previous studies, Martin Luther felt obliged to believe that the Church was acting against the Bible, the 'sole of truth'. This event prompted him to formerly disagree and act immediately to address this dilemma.

- The publishment of the 95 theses has now been abolished
- The wrong that he had viewed in the Catholic Church allowed Luther to initially develop the 95 theses and officially publish in the year of 1517 upon the door of the Church in Wittenburg. The document alone caused incredible controversy, as it addressed several sensitive topics (Pope's authority, salvation and indulgences). The Pope demonstrated complete disapproval of Luther's ideas, causing the reformer to publicly burn his response letter which resulted in further action against Luther and his beliefs.

- When Luther's actions and ideas came known to those living within Germany, there were several mixed reactions from society. Reformers suddenly became involved in the Protestant Reformation, including King Henry VIII and John Calvin and were those who developed Anglican and Calvinism. This occurence allowed the side that was opposing the Catholic Church to be viewed as more powerful, despite pro and anti Luther groups being formed.
- In the year of 1521, Martin Luther met with the Holy Roman Empire in a formal assembly known as the 'Diet of Worms', as an effect of his opinions and ideas. As a result of this occurence, Luther was eventually excommunicated an outlawed by Pope Leo X. Labelled as heretic and forbidden further punishment of his 95 theses, the Catholic Church took strong action against his perspective in order to prevent his ideas from spreading rapidly throughout Germany.
- Through Luther's beliefs of the Bible as the source of truth and salvation through faith alone, the reformer had caused a significant change in times he recognised as challenge. Fortunately, the action of the important people involved in the Protestant Reformation resulted in a formal Catholic reply, known as the Council of Trent. The main intentions of the Council of Trent were to attempt to reform the Catholic Church in a way of response to the forceful protestants. The abolishment of the sale of indulgences eventually occured, however this failed to condemn the spread of Protestanism.
