- Dia de los Muertos is a very popular holiday in the hispanic countries. It is celebrated on November 1st and 2nd. Friends and family comes together to remember loved ones and those who have died.
- Hi Lulu, what did you learn in school today?
- I learned about the Day of the Dead.
- Dia de los Muertos is celebrated in Mexico and throughout Latin America.They honor those ones who have died and pray for them.
- Oh really! When I was your age, I learned about that too!
- Really!
- Dia de los Muertos is a lively Mexican holiday that draws on indigenous and European traditions. Assured that the dead would be insulting by mourning or sadness, Dia de los Muertos celebrated the life of the deceased with food, drink, parties, and activities the dead enjoyed in life.
- Yeah! In fact, did you want to go to Mexico and see how it is?
- Really?! Yeah!!!
- People of all ages have their faces artfully painted to resemble skulls and mimicking the calavera Catrina, they wear don suits and fancy dresses. Many revelers wear shells or other noisemakers to amp up the excitement and also possibly to rouse up the dead and keep them close during the fun.

- Some of the best foods they eat on Dia de los Muertos are Oaxacan hot chocolate, candied pumpkin, pan-roasted chicken with mole negro. And some of the top favorites are chicken tamales with tomatillo- cilantro salsa and Day of the Dead cookie. In Mexico, chocolate and sugar skulls are placed on altars dedicated to dead during the holiday.
- Dia de los Muertos is a two-day holiday that celebrates life and death. A joyful time for people to remember the deceased and honor their memory through festivals, lively celebrations and meaningful offerings.
