- It's the day of the Reaping and Katniss meets Gale in the woods for their annual celebratory "feast".
- We could do it, you know? Run away. We could make it.
- I have Prim and my mother to take care of.
- Exposition-Effie Trinket pulls out Prim's name out of the vase first, but Katniss volunteers to to take her place. Peeta Mellark is chosen as the male tribute.
- Katniss!
- I volunteer as tribute!
- The District 12 tributes arrive at the Capitol and are baffled by the wealth around them.
