Storyboard-Text

  • This is an exposition because the author gives context or a little foreshadowing moment for the reader to understand what was about to happen later on in the story.
  • "IT’s TRue! yes, i have been ill, very ill. But why do you say that I have lost control of my mind, why do you say that I am mad?"
  • This shows how action is rising gaining on to the climax showing that the man is planning on killing him after contemplating on whether he should earlier.
  • Your Evil Eye is looking me straight in the face.
  • Why?!
  • "I put in my head. I put in my hand, with the covered light. Suddenly the old man sat straight up in bed and cried, “Who’s there??!”... Now I knew that he was sitting up in his bed, filled with fear; I knew that he knew that I was there. He did not see me there. He could not hear me there. He felt me there. Now he knew that Death was standing there."
  • This shows how the climax presents a series of events that bring the reader in and is an exciting point in the story compared to the other parts.
  • "In the quiet night, in the dark silence of the bedroom my anger became fear — for the heart was beating so loudly that I was sure some one must hear. The time had come! I rushed into the room, crying, “Die! Die!” The old man gave a loud cry of fear as I fell upon him and held the bedcovers tightly over his head."
  • This shows the falling action mainly because you can't stay at the climax forever there has to be a point where the story neutralizes and calms down which this part showcases.
  • "I asked the policemen to come in. The cry, I said, was my own, in a dream. The old man, I said, was away; he had gone to visit a friend in the country. I took them through the whole house, telling them to search it all, to search well. I led them finally into the old man’s bed- room. As if playing a game with them I asked them to sit down and talk for a while. My easy, quiet manner made the policemen believe my story."
