- Our main character, Thomas, is brought up in a box and he is confused and disoriented.
- Climax
- Thomas finds himself trapped in a 10-12 acre square area by 4 walls
- Falling Action
- Thomas sees that Minho is going to get stuck in the maze. Thomas decides to enter the maze and Minho and Thomas are chased by grievers.
- Resolution
- Minho and Thomas go into the maze after the sun disappears. They find a griever in the maze and follow it and the griever ends up flying off the cliff.
- Thomas, Minho, Newt, and other gliders go to the cliff to jump through the griever hole. The gliders encounter about 2 dozen grievers.
- Thomas and all the gliders find Galley, who kills Chuck. Thomas is torn up by this because he promised to return Chuck to home or find him a home.
