- Father, I want that toy!
- Come, child, come
- It was the festival of spring. A child went to the fair with his parents. This child ran between his parents leg, overjoyed.
- A garland of gulmohar!
- I want a burfi, I want a garland, I want a balloon!!
- Gulab jamun, rasgulla, burfi, jalebi!
- "Come, child, come," His parents called, to the boy who lagged behind, fascinated by the toys in his shops. He asked his father for a toy, but his father looked at him angrily. He asked no more.
- I want to go on the roundabout, please, Father, Mother!
- Oh! I'm lost! Father! Mother!
- His mother, to divert him from the toys, showed him the flowering mustard- field. The boy was very excited. He ran towards the insects and was trying to catch it. Then a shower of flowers fell upon him. He ran towards the flowers, to pick them up. He then heard the cooing of doves. He ran towards them, delighted.
- How did you come here, child? Whose child are you?
- I want my father, I want my mother!
- Look, child, look! A burfi, a garland and balloons! Would you like to have some?
- I only want my father, I only want my mother!!
- He saw many things in the fair, the sweetmeat seller, the flower seller and the balloon man. He wanted all that they were selling. But he knew that his parents won't buy it for him.
- Then, he saw a roundabout in full swing. Men, women and children were shrieking with excitement. He also wanted to have a go on the roundabout. He plucked the courage to ask his parents for a ride. "Mother, Father, I want to have a go on the roundabout." There was no reply. The boy turned his head and looked everywhere. There was no sign of them. He was scared and started sobbing.
- He ran here and there, calling out for his parents. Then, in the surging crowd near the temple, a stranger heard his voice and picked him up. To console the boy, He offered the boy everything he wanted, but the boy merely said, "I want my father, I want my mother."
