  • Gender equality has been an ongoing issue in the United States for centuries. Women did not gain the right to vote until 1920. They were seen as less than for years-- and even after they gained the right to vote.
  • Often even in today's society, women are systemically diminished in the workplace, in society. They won't get jobs that they're qualified for because they're given to men. They make less money despite doing the same jobs.
  • Roe v Wade legalized abortion in 1973 and was monumental for women's healthcare. Women could get a legal abortion for any reason and didn't have to dangerously seek for third party abortions.
  • But abortion is still a debate. A woman's right to healthcare is a debate. There are still lawmakers who want to take these rights from women. We should be fighting for a woman's right to choose.
  • Marginalized women are also the last to be considered for jobs, being passed over despite having qualifications. It is just as important to make sure that these women are given the same opportunities as white women and we're protecting them.
  • Equal opportunities for women shouldn't be a debate. It should be a standard that we all fight for daily. Equal healthcare should be seen as a right. Women of color need to be protected. It will take all of us.
