- Why are we here in beautiful Philadelphia???
- Hey! How about that Shays's Rebellion!?! We gotta fix that!
- So, let's get started!
- We need a strong federal government!
- ...but limited!
- llowing Shays's Rebellion."A Constitutional Convention is Called" Alexander Hamilton called for the states to send representatives to Philadelphia to discuss changesneeded to the Articles of Confederation
- "We need a leader!"
- "That's right! I'm the man!!!"
- "The Convention's Delegates" Some of the big names present were: George Washington, Ben Franklin, James Madison,
- "I, Edmond Randolph propose the "Virginia Plan"!
- "I, William Patterson propose the "New Jersey Plan!"
- "The Delegates Assemble" They came together to set up a new federal government which was both strong and limited in it's power.
- It took a while but we came to a compromise and now have a new Constitution!!
- "THe Convention Begins" They had to pick a leader and had guards posted to keep everything secret!
- "The Virginia Plan" Multiple plans were introduced as to how we should set up out new government. The Virginia Plan and the New Jersey plan were the big two.
- "THe Great Compromise" The two main plans were blended together to create the form of government that we have today.
