After about three weeks, I could see the cracks in 2 of the 12 eggs. I told my dad, and we took the trays out, leaving the eggs at the incubator's bottom.

After a few more days, I woke up to the delightful sound of ‘chirp, chirp!” “That must mean!” I rushed through the hall and down the stairs and saw her.
Once most of them had hatched, we took the babies and put them in the cage. I got 2 small dishes, one for food and one for water, and once again took responsibility for these animals.

I told my dad as soon as he woke up. He told me to go to the basement and get a small cage that we had from a previous pet. I went into the deepest part of our basement, all the way to the back. On the top shelf was the cage.

A round-topped white cage frame that flipped open off its rectangular bottom. Connected to the bottom of that cage was a bigger red platform for the woodchips that would be in it. Then, we got a heat lamp and clipped it on top of the cage to keep the little chicks warm.
