- Phase 4 The Drive West 1760-1805The N.W.C took over the French fur trade. Now 2 British companies were competing. they both moved west to try and be the first to et the unclaimed furs.

- Phase 3 Rival networks 1670-1760The H.B.C was established by the British. The britis also started trading with the F.N so both countrys were competing in the fur trade. britain was in controll of the area around Hudsons bay. France controlled the great lakes/St. Lawrence region
