- Wolf, Barak, Silk, Pol, and Garion went to greet the king in Cherek. Garion couldn't believe that Barak and Silk were royalty and Wolf and Pol were Belgarath and Polgara.
- While wandering the corridors of the abandoned portion of the palace Garion came upon a man in a green cloak. The man was listening to the meeting of kings from above listening to all the secrets that were being discussed.
- Barak urged Garion to share what he told him. As Garion told him the king was shocked. Once Garion finished telling him about seeing the Murgo in the woods talking to the man in the green cloak, the king said that he now owed Garion a favor.
- As Garion ran away from a murgo named Asharak he was running from his soldiers too. He couldn't tell which was the enemy and which was friendly so he ran from all of them. He got cornered in a stairwell as 2 warriors started to fight.
- The banished Earl of Jarvik fought with the king. The king beat him and later was talking to him. He told the king that this wasn't the first time he broke banishment and told him about talking to Asharak. The king killed Jarvik because he was a traitor.
