- Tangerine is a novel written by Edward Bloor about the struggles of a middle school boy. Paul Fisher has moved with his family to Tangerine County, Florida. He encounters many disasters along the way; thunderstorms almost daily, a sinkhole beneath his school, and his older brother's antics. Will Paul be able to expose Erik to his parents? What could be wrong with his eyesight? what secrets to his parents hide? read Tangerine to find out.

- Tangerine County, Florida is Paul Fisher's new home. He has moved into a housing development known as Lake Windsor Downs with his family. Formerly dubbed "the tangerine capital of the world", Tangerine is a place with many mysteries. It rains at the same time everyday, and disasters lurk around every corner. Will Paul ever find out why Tangerine is like this?

- Paul Fisher is a seventh grade student who just moved to Tangerine. He is a soccer player, and he plays goalie. He has to wear large, goggle-like glasses because of his vision problems. Paul, however, thinks he can see fine. He says he can see things his parents can't. Paul was never sure of how his eyes were damaged, so he went along with a story about how he stared at an eclipse too long. Paul, however, has no recollection of such a thing happening.
- Theme
- Erik Fisher is Paul's older brother. Erik is a high school football placekicker, playing for the Lake Windsor Seagulls. Erik, despite being a good placekicker, is not a good person, joking about the death of Mike Costello, a teammate of his. He and his new friend, Arthur Bauer, are terrorizing Paul and his friends in Tangerine. It is up to Paul to show his parents how terrible Erik truly is.
- The main antagonist, Erik Fisher, has been quite rude to Paul and his friends ever since moving to Tangerine. Erik has bullied Paul's friend Joey over his brother's death, and Paul's friend Tino by punching him in the face. Paul's parents, however, do not notice Erik's cruel behavior, only seeing him as their perfect football playing son. Paul, however, has always seen Erik's behavior. Paul remarks that he "can see things my parents can't. Or won't." This most likely refers to Erik's attitude. Paul needs to show his parents Erik's true self so he can finally feel safe in his own home.
- Dishonesty, distrust, and discord* within a family can cause arguments, tension, and splitting between a family.(*discord is another word for chaos)
