A New Way to Speak - Part Two

Texto del Guión Gráfico

  • Mary Ellen left the dance, and was feeling very sorry for herself. On her way home, she came across a little girl crying on the side of the road. After talking to the little girl, she learned that she was also from a different place, and she couldn't understand what people were saying because of their accents. In fact, the only person she understood was Mary Ellen, because they both spoke differently! Mary Ellen explained the way children learn to form words was through interaction, and that their interaction was just different from the other children.
  • I'm so sorry for myself.
  • That night, the girls had a sleepover. As they were getting ready for bed, Mary Ellen's mom came in to see how they were doing. She thought the girls may still be upset. She explained to them that the more interaction they had with the new accents around them, the more they would lose their old accent. She reminded them that learning to speak differently is easiest when a person is young, and so she did not think they would have any trouble fitting in soon. They all wished each other goodnight, and lived happily ever after.
