- Judges 13 explains how a man name manoah and his wife, who is unable to have a son, gives birth to Samson through God. An angel comes to them and tells them that the catch is that she cannot drink and he must never cut his hair, because the hair brings him superhuman strength. Her son will be a Nazarite.

- Samson’s first important act was when he asked his father to bring him a Philistine women so he can marry her. His parents want him to make an Israelite woman his wife but Samson objects because marrying a philistine would help him infiltrate the philistine army and defeat them.
