- King develops a trust with the crowd and gives them to listen because he shows that he knows a lot about what has been happening. He starts right off the bat by telling them about the Emancipation Proclamation.

- "Constitution and the Declaration of Independence, they were signing a promissory note to which every American was to fall heir. This note was a promise that all men-yes black men as well as white men-wold be garenteed the unalienable rights of life,liberty and the pursuit of happiness."(King)
- He connects with everyone's emotions by referring to the children of america, because they are very impressionable and need good examples from them so they can lead good lives.
- Pathos
- "Now is t.he time to make justice a reality for all of God's children. It would be fatal for the nation to overlook the urgency of the moment."(King)
- King uses numbers like 100 to help get his point across that this has been going on for too long and needs to stop now.
- Logos
- "This momentous decree is a great beacon light of hope to millions of Negro slaves who had been seared in the flames o[ withering injustice."(King).
- He goes back to the Constitution and the Declaration of independence something that everybody knows, and uses it to help prove his point about segregation.
- He talks about educating the young children who control the future so this will connect with everyone that has children and want a better future for them .
- King adds emphasis to the statement by adding millions before negro slaves, and by doing that might change peoples minds on the issue.
