- The Wall Street has crashed and investors in Germany have been forced to sell their shares due to the lack in confidence.

- Four out of ten factory workers could not get a job. They also suffered because unemployment benefits were reduced by the government. Food prices rose with most people unable to afford food.

- Hermann Müller (The SDP leader) resigns and Heinrich Bruller becomes chancellor. Bruning did not have the majority of the Reichstag so he asked President Hindenberg to use article 48 of the constitution. This meant from 1930 the Weimar constitution could not run as a democracy.
- Heinrich Brüning introduced several unpopular measures such as increased tax rises and further cuts to unemployment benefits. These measures greatly increased the suffering of the German people. In response, many Germans turned to extreme political parties in hopes of a solution t their problems.
- The Nazis presented Hitler as the strong leader that Germany needed. He said he was Germany's last hope and he promised a better future. Hitler made sure his messages would appeal to many different groups in Germany with broad pledges such as 'Make Germany strong' and 'Smash the chains of Versailles'.
