  • To be honest, I don't think a lot of people really know what Anthropology is. So you aren't alone, Bri.
  • When I first entered this class, I actually did not know what Anthropology or was. Anthropology is basically the study of human beings around the world and throughout history. I was surprised to learn that. I was also shock when i learned it actually had four subtopics connected to it!

  • Reid: I know. It's a lot of topics in Anthropology. And even how these subtopics have different topics in them as well.
  • Me: I didn't know that these subtopics were connected to Anthropology: Biological- containing Paleoanthropology, Human Biology, and Primatology. It is the study of human evolution, biological variation, and adaption over time. Cultural- consisting of kinship and social organization, maternal life and technology and worldview. It goes over the study of human societies, cultures, and their development in their cultures. Archaeology- paleontology and historical archaeology. It basically is the study of human life and activities through remains and analysis of them. Linguistics- consisting of descriptive, comparative, and historical linguistics. I didn;t know there was so many things that were connected to Anthropology!

  • Thanks, Reid. Good luck in your classes too!
  • I think you will definently learn a lot, Bri! Good luck!
  • Me: Overall, I've learned so much this first week of the course. I just can't believe how wide and diverse Anthropology actually is and what it does (along with its subtopics). I hope I will learn more of Anthropology on a deeper level.
