  • Amendments and government were apart of the Turn of the Century. The Reconstruction Amendments, and Voting Amendments were new. The government was apart of this change.

  • The Reconstruction Amendments were the 13th, 14th, and 15th amendments. The Voting Amendments were also the 15th including the 19th, 21st, 24th, and the 26th amendments.

  • The Reconstruction Amendments were passed to help African Americans. They abolished slavery, gave citizenship, and gave suffrage. African Americans were very happy.
  • Finally! We don't have to be slaves anymore!
  • No! I need them to work for me!
  • The Voting Amendments were specifically for voting. They gave suffrage, women the right to vote, ended poll taxes, and gave 18 year old people women the right to vote.
  • Finally, we get to vote!

  • The government had a big say in these choices. The government helps organize our community and our system. These amendments wouldn't be here without the government.
  • We are a big part of this country. We have to be careful in what we decide.
  • The government and amendments were very important at this time. They helped many people specifically women and African Americans. Most of us wouldn't be here today without many of these laws.
