MOM LUBY AND THE SOCIAL WORKER

- Mom Luby, is an old woman who takes care of orphans children Elijah and Arlethia (Puddin'). However, she is unable to properly support them so she goes to the Welfare Office seeking financial aid. But in order to qualify for it she tells an unbelievable lie about being their mother.
- Scene 4
- They get home and there's a bunch of people outside waiting to get into the speakeasy Mom Luby has in the back of her apartment.
- Scene 5
- Some time later, Miss Rushmore of the Department of Child Welfare, Bureau of Family Assistance passes by. She comes in, sits, and pulls a paper out of her envelope while asking Mom Luby some questions about her finances which she does not answer. Eventually, Mom Luby convinces Ms. Rushmore to accompany her as she goes about her duties which last for about two hours.
- Scene 6
- They returned to the speakeasy where the interview continued. Even though Mom Luby was told that she does not qualified for the State Aid, Miss Rushmore is in awe with Mom Luby because she has accomplished so many tasks in just 2 hours. Mom Luby jokingly suggests she is hired to work in the government office.
- Miss Rushmore reminds her that she is unqualified and leaves as everyone laughs.
- Mom Luby accepts that Miss Rushmore has a point "You need an education to fill out forty pieces of paper for one pair of shoes." And they continued with their normal lifestyle.
