  • The child is trying to figure out trust and mistrust upon how their needs are met. The mother gives him a toy, implementing a sense in him that he can trust his mother. (Birth until 1 1/2 years old)
  • I need to learn and understand our topic.
  • Industry vs. Inferiority
  • In this stage, the toddler begins to understand and gains self-control over his own actions. We can see the child choosing his own clothes here. (1 1/2 to 3 years old)
  • Identity vs. Confusion
  • I don't know what or who I want to be.
  • At this stage, the child begins to learn how to take responsibility for their own behavior. Here, the child is asking the other children if they want to play with him. (3 to 5 years old)
  • Intimacy vs. Isolation
  • Will I be loved or will I be alone?
  • In this stage, the kid begins to strive to accomplish new tasks in both the academic and the social world. As we can see here the kid is actively wanting to learn more about new things in his class. (5 to 12 years old)
  • In this stage, adolescents must decide who they are or want to be as an adult. In this stage, a lot more social relationships are formed and some still remain confused on what they want to become or who they really are. (13 years old to early 20s)
  • In this stage, young adults face the task of finding a person with whom they can share their identity in a close and personal relationship. (20s and 30s)
