- Aubrey is watching the fireworks on forth of July. She notices that when the firework shoots up it leaves a trail in the sky and then when it falls down it does the same. Aubrey says to her friend that it looks like a parabola. She knows that each firework shoots up 100 meters and estimates it falls 30 meters from the take off site.

- Aubrey decides to figure out the parabola by using the formula y=a(x-p)^2 +q.
- y= a(x-p) ^2 +q y= a (x-15) ^2 +1000= a ( 0- 15) ^2 + 100 -100 = a(225) a= 100/ 225
- Aubrey used her calculator to figure out that a= 100/225 or simplified it would be 4/9. Now she can see that parabolas are used in real life and can enjoy the rest of the fireworks
