Good morning Fred! How are you today?Are you ready for our math session? We will learn about reducible and irreducible fractions.
Good morning teacher Samar!Sure I'm ready let's start our lesson. This will be an excited chapter!
First we will start with reducible fractions.Reducible fractions are fractions that can be simplified to a simpler fraction whose numerator and denominator have a common factor.For example 8/6 : 8 and 6 have a common divisor which is 2.So to reduce this fraction we divide 8 and 6 by 2 to have the reduced fraction 4/3, and by this method we have reduced the fraction.
Wow that's easy, it's not that hard. So if the numerator and denominator have a common divisor then the fraction is reducible, what about the irreducible fractions?
Irreducible fractions are way simpler.When the numerator and denominator in a fraction have no common divisor other than the number 1, the fraction is then irreducible.For example 5/3: the divisors of 5 are 1 and 5, but the divisors of 3 are 1 and 3, so 5 and 3 have no common divisor other than the number 1.So 5/3 is irreducible!
That's easier! It's an easy lesson I can now recognize the difference between reducible and irreducible fractions. I will try to solve the exercises for our next session. Thank you teacher!
