- Bruno’s father is a commanding officer of the Nazi party and moves his family from Nazi Berlin to Auschwitz Poland, where he is in charge of the concentration camp. Bruno isn’t happy with the move as he’ll miss his friends.
- Climax
- Bruno is lonely at his new house so he goes on an adventure and comes across a concentration camp where he finds Shmuel a Jewish boy who is also 9 years old. They become friends.
- Falling Action
- Bruno sees Shmuel working in the dining room cleaning glasses and tells him he can eat some. Lieutenant Kohtler walks in and sees Shmuel talking to Bruno and eating their food, Khotler starts shouting at Shmuel and asks Bruno if he knows Shmuel, Bruno is scared so he says he's never seen him before, Kohtler shouts at him to leave.
- Resolution
- Bruno had been coming to the fence of the concentration camp that Shmuel is in for days but hasn't seen him since he lied to Kothler about not knowing Shmuel. Bruno sees Shmuel sitting at the fence and runs over in excitement, Shmuel has a black eye. Bruno apologises and tells Shmuel tomorrow he will bring a shovel and help him find his father and Shmuel says he will bring Bruno matching clothes to him so he blends in. the next day they both dig under the fence making a hole big enough for Bruno. Bruno is unaware of the reality of concentration camps. Bruno and Shmuel along with everyone else in the concentration camp are forced into a gas chamber and killed.
- Bruno's family is looking for him, his sister and mother find his clothes next to the whole Bruno and Shmuel dug. Brunos father runs into the camp to find the shelters empty and comes to the realisation that his son was in the gas chamber.
- The movie ends with the gas chamber doors and a room full of clothes from the people who were in the chamber.
