- Believing himself as the guardian of the Catholic Church, King Phillip proposes to Queen Elizabeth I in an attempt to gain control of England and unite them both under Catholicism.

- 130 Spanish ships armed with short-range cannons and packed with supplies sail to the Southwestern coast of England and the war begins.

- Due to the small size of the English ships, they were more easily maneuverable unlike the Spanish ships and were able to sink the Spanish ships with their long range cannons. To add to the difficulties, the Spanish ships were so jammed with supplies, it made it difficult to access their weapons.

- After a great defeat from the English, the remaining Spanish ships left back to Spain, however rough storms caused many of them to crash on the shores of Ireland.
