- An anarchy is what happens with the absence of a government. There is no way to make or enforce laws. Chaos and violence is usually what comes with an anarchy.
- Oligarchy
- A king or a queen rules over the people in an absolute anarchy. The king or queen (or monarch) have all the power. They usually come to be monarchs by inheritance.
- Theocracy
- A dictatorship is when all the power lays in one person. They have full authority to enforce and create any laws they want to. Liberties and rights are usually stamped out so that the one individual can maintain power.
- Direct Democracy
- An oligarchy is when a group of people rule. It is a type of dictatorship. The group usually consists of those with wealth or military power. Everything is determined by the small group.
- A theocracy is a form of government that is based on a god or gods. The country is controlled by one or more religious leaders on behalf of God or gods worshipped in their country.
- In a direct democracy, the citizens vote for everything. They vote for all laws and how the government should function. This means there are no elected leaders and every citizen has equal power.
