- Georgie takes out the paper boat he made with his brother to play outside. While he runs down the street the boat floats into a storm drain. When he tries to find the boat he is met with Pennywise.

- Adrian wins an "I ♥ Derry!" hat at the Canal Days Festival carnival, which enrages Garton. The boys throw Adrian over the bridge into the canal. Don Hagarty and Unwin both report seeing a clown under the bridge.
- falling action
- Mike calling the group to come back to Derry to act on a promise they made years ago as kids. He does research in the library while he calls everyone. Mike hopes out of the six they all return.
- resolution
- Mike Hanlon arranges a lunch for the Losers at a Chinese restaurant near the Derry Mall. Over lunch, the Losers assess how much they have changed. Mike believes their success is somehow related to their connection to It and to each other.
- After a while, Mike finds more evidence of IT in the town's many cases. While looking into cases they could connect all the cases. Mike speculates what IT really eats.
- On August 10, 1958, Bill stands firm and approaches the giant spider. Bill and It communicates telepathically in a different plane of existence, and then Bill is "thrown" backward through a tunnel "toward ... some titanic dark."
