Rodgers would see my motivation to provide for myself in the future a way that I am striving to be my ideal self.

- Paul Costa and Robert McCrae, trait theorists, believed in the five factor model, which lists traits that they propose are observable throughout life as we age. They are openness, conscientiousness, extraversion, agreeableness, and neuroticism. I am conscientious, and I always pay attention to detail.
- Hans and Sybil Eysenek, trait theorists, said that there were four divisions of personality. People can be either introverted or extraverted, and have emotional stability or instability. According to their model, I would be considered a stable introvert, who are described to be thoughtful, peaceful, reliable, and calm.

- Bandura was a social cognitive theorist who believed that we view circumstances through two different perspectives. Internal locus of control is when we feel that we are in charge of our future whereas an external locus of control is when we believe life is governed by fate. Bandura would say that I have an internal locus of control because I believe that I am in control of a situation's outcome.
