- The slaves were bought at an auction by a businessman who owned a plantation. They remained chained and then taken to the plantation.
- Once the slaves were taken to the plantation they were put with other slaves in a small cabin near the farmer's house and were constantly under the eye of an overseer.
- During the day they were forced to work for about 10 or more hours six days a week with only one day off. Women were required to work the same as men did.
- Most of the time slaves made revelations against their owners and refused to do the work they were told to do. Some slave rebellions ended up with many deaths of both slaves and free people.
- When the slave revealed the owner wouldn't allow such a thing to happen so they punished the reveling slave or slaves by hitting them and torturing them in front of the other slaves. Sometimes slaves ended up being killed during their punishments.
- After a punishment, the other slaves were required to continue working in the plantations 6 days a week. If the punished slave ended up alive he would be treated no differently from the other he would simply be forced to work like he used to every day.
