England got into a conflict with France over territory in North America. This was known as the French and Indian war lasted over 7 years. England defeated the French however it left them bankrupt.

Colonists were being heavily taxed along with having no say in the Parliament. They then started to go against the British and started to not pay for goods from the British.

British soldiers were deployed in Boston in order to get weapons. Troops from Britain then started to march to Concord in order to get colonial leaders and weapons. The American Revolution started in Lexington and Concord.

The result of Battle of Saratoga convinced the French to align themselves with the Americans. The French army were able to help supply and help reinforce the American army.
The Battle of Yorktown was the final battle of the American Revolution. American and French troops surrounded the British. As a result, the British surrendered to the American army led by George Washington on October 19, 1781.
The Treaty of Paris of 1783 between America, Britain, and the French was signed by diplomats. Britain now recognized the independence of the United States of America. This signified the end of the war. Ideas such as Locke, Hobbes, Montesquieu, and Rousseau helped form and influence the New Constitution in 1787. These helped spread natural rights, social contracts, power, and freely elected governments.
