Receiving the Holy Spirit

- Introduction
- Hello there! I'm Jane and I am about to tell you my first encounter with the Holy Spirit. Enjoy!
- Acts 2:38
- Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
- And so I prayed
- Okay. Let's try it.
- This is my journey in knowing the Holy Spirit.
- Nothing's Happening
- So my aunt and I we're inside our room, we share room during that time, and she was explaining to me that just like how the disciples received the Holy Spirit, we should ask God for it too and He will give it to us through believing and praying to Him. Hearing her words, I was very reluctant because it was my first time hearing those.
- I believed
- She left me inside to think about it. So I thought, maybe I should try. "I'll lose nothing in the process, right?" And so I silently prayed.
- I received
- I was already praying for five minutes and nothing is happening. I'm feeling weird about it and I want to stop when I heard my aunt's voice in my head. So I tried again.
- Ask and it shall be given to you. Seek and you shall find.
- When I tried again, I told to myself to believe. And so I began letting my whole heart out, asking for His forgiveness, thanking Him for everything he has done in my life, and asking for His promise Holy Spirit.
- Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
- Unknowingly while praying, the language I uttered became different just like what happened to the disciples during the day of Pentecost. I was shocked for a while then I continued praying, thanking Him for having the opportunity of being given the Holy Spirit.
