- THE FLAPPER LIFESTYLECongress passed the 19th amendment in August of 1920. This now allowed women of age to vote and now they would become more independent.

- Flappers in the 1920's were young, fast moving and talking, reckless and unfazed by current social conflicts. They smoked and drank regularly, drove cars and kissed along with "petting" different men.
- I know! This is outrageous!
- I can't believe we aren't allowed just because we are flappers.
- Zelda Fitzgerald was a quintessential flapper. She married Scott Fitzgerald when she was 17. She also became a novelist and painter.
- The stock market's crashed. I won't be able to continue living the lifestyle that I am.

- The dresses flappers wore had uneven split hems, low cut necks and backs with thin straps. They were sleeveless with narrow trailing scarves and most of the time they were made out of satin.
- Because of the way flappers acted, many states tried to pass laws that prevented women from dressing inappropriately. Most weren't allowed at the beach because of their bathing suits.

- During the stock market crash, no more women could afford to keep living like a flapper.
