  • "As of today, the Supreme Court has decided to dissolve the railroad company known as the Northern Securities Company. This company continued to jack up rates and pricing, but this is not what America is about." 
  • Theodore Roosevelt was the 26th president of the United States. He loved being outdoors and exploring nature. Teddy was a military veteran that served in the Spanish-American war. TR is seen by most as the first modern U.S. president .

  • The Pure Food and Drug Act has been passed, as well as the Meat Inspection Act. These are large steps forward in the process of cleaning up the food processing and packaging businesses.

  • Theodore Roosevelt was the Vice President to William McKinley. When McKinley was assassinated in 1901 Teddy was made President. This made Roosevelt the youngest person to assume the presidency.
  • The National Conservation Commission will be in charge of taking inventory of the country's natural resources and will come up with plans on how to help preserve them.
  • Mr. President, what will the National Conservation Commission do?
  • During his presidency Roosevelt used his presidential and federal power to break up trusts and gain enough power and influence to investigate and regulate different large corporations such as railroad companies.
  • "We here by declare this a National Park!. This land is now protected by the federal government."
  • Throughout his terms as president, Roosevelt introduced a lot of industrial and labor policies. Some of these policies were the Hepburn Act which the ICC the power to regulate railroad rates. The Pure Food and Drug Act as wells as the Meat Inspection Act which called for correct food labels, strict sanitary conditions, and a rating systems for meats. Teddy also negotiated terms with miners to prevent strikes.
  • Roosevelt's love for nature growing up carried over to his presidency. Teddy was a huge supporter of conservation and protecting the environment. He passed many conservation policies such as establishing the U.S. Forest Service and the National Conservation Commission.
  • Theodore Roosevelt's passion for preserving the country's natural beauty showed when he established numerous National Parks. These national parks were sectioned acres of land that are used for conservation purposes and are protected by the federal government. In fact Roosevelt liked this idea so much that by the end of his presidency he had protected over 150 million acres of land.
