- Now, they had many ways to do math back in the old times. But those methods were pretty inconvenient. So, they made devices to do math!
- Abacus, the arithmometer Leibniz's calculator to name a few.
- The abacus was used invented sometime between 300 to 500 BC. It consisted of 2 sections namely 'Heaven' 'Earth'. It consisted of beads that slide up down on wooden rods. The beads on earth only counted one while one bead in heaven counted 5. They are divided by a midbar.

- The arithmometer was invented by Thomas de Colmar in 1820. It could perform addition, subtraction, multiplication division. It was based on Leibniz's technology. Gottfried Leibniz was a scientist who invented the Leibniz calculator by improvising the Pascaline. It was the first successful and mass- produced calculator to be used in offices.

- The Leibniz's calculator was invented by Gottfried Leibniz. It was designed to perform all four basic arithmetic operations. It used a system of stepped drums with teeth of different lengths, to facilitate calculations which also got it another name of the Stepped Reckoner.
