- "He wanted, not to escape and clubbing, but to have leadership" I think this quote is giving off a determined tone because Buck is willing to do a lot of things to be rewarded as leader, he is also very confident in himself but later things leave him in shock.
- "Three days passed by which time Buck and his mates found how really tired they were. Then, on the fourth day two men from the States came along and bought them." I think this quotes gives off a mysterious tone because Buck and his mates are being sold again to these two other men from the State and they don't even know where they're going.
- "Buck knew no greater joy than that rough embraced and the sound of murmured oaths, and at each jerk back and forth it seemed that his heart would be shaken out of his so great was it's ecstasy. I think this quote is giving off a joyous tone because Buck is actually showing his love for John Thornton because he treats the the dogs with love and respect.
