Story of Ghalas-at.

- One evening on the island of Ghalas -at, something unusual happened. A ship with a red sail began to appear on the horizon. Karana and her brother were on the beach gathering roots for the tribe when they saw the boat and rushed to tell the others.
- The people of Ghalals-at, where scared and confused. They grabbed their weapons just incase the people on the boat were hostile and rushed to the beach.
- One of the people on the boat came down to talk to the chief. The people on the boat came to the island to take the islanders to a new land. Everyone was exited about the thought of going to a new land new land so they packed their bags to leave.
- With all the excitement of packing Karana and her brother were left on the island.
- A few days after being left on the island Karana woke up one morning and her brother wasn't there. That night he had left to wander around and was killed by the wild dogs. karana was now all by herself living on the island.
- After a few weeks on the island alone Karana tamed one of the wild dogs for some company. He helped hunt and fish and made Karana's life easier.
- Two springs later an earthquake hits and karana's dog dies. Then two days later a ship appears.
- The people on he boat convince Karana to come with them to a new country and Karana leaves to start a new life.
