John Locke visits the king to tell him about his ideas of Natural rights.
All people are born with natural rights. You can't take those away.
I am the king. I may do whatever I please.
Baron de Montesquieu sees that John is upset and asks kim what's wrong.
What's wrong?
The king doesn't believe in my ideas.
Locke and Montesquieu start to discuss their ideas of government.
I believe that people are born with certain freedoms that the king may not take away. I also believe that a government should be set up to protect these rights.
That sounds very rational to me. Just to be certain that the government doesn't take advantage of us there should be a seperation of powers.
I think those are great ideas.
Montesquieu and Locke discuss even more on their ideas about imporoving the role of leaders in the country by bringing up other peoples ideas.
I've also been talking to Jean-Jaque Rousseau. He beliees that there should be a contract between the government and the people. This would be called a social contrat.
Locke and Montesquieu discuss how they will get others to agree with their ideas.
This all sounds great, however, how are we supposed to get anyone to agree to these ideas.
Maybe if we use rationalism everyone will see that our ideas could make the country better.
Montesquieu and John Locke wrap up their conversation buy explaining how they will get other people to agree with them.
If we use our inductive reasoning skills we should be able to use rationalism to our advantage.
That sounds like a plan. This will definetly help more people understand our ideas.
