- One of the most interesting themes of this book is that human beings are often the most dangerous and fearsome monsters. While Geralt is often hired to find a kill creatures, it is the people he encounters that are most often dangerous, self-serving, and willing to do harm.#160;

- The main character of this book series is Geralt of Rivia. He is a highly mutated human and trained monster hunter. He frequently goes on adventures with his friend, Dandelion, who is a poet and musician. His tenuous relationship with the sorceress, Yennefer, and his protection of the young princess, Ciri, are also very important to the story.#160;
- SETTING
- After his breakup with Yennefer, Geralt is left wandering the countryside looking for work. Eventually he wanders into Brokilon forest where the young princess, Ciri, is lost. He realizes that his destiny is to protect this young girl.#160;
- Geralt's primary job is to kill monsters that threaten humans (person vs nature), but he faces many of other types of conflict. He is in love with the sorceress, Yennefer, but she decides that she would rather be on her own (person vs person). Geralt journeys from town to town searching for work, but often faces the bigotry and racism of the people he meets (person vs society). Eventually he encounters Ciri, a princess that he is fated to protect (person vs fate).#160;
- The world of the Witcher#160;#160;series is called The Continent. It is made up of many small and large kingdoms that are often at war with each other. The humans of this world live in rural farming villages and cities. The urban areas in this world are very cosmopolitan and diverse. A common issue in this world is the racism humans have toward non-humans, which has resulted in the genocide of the elves.#160;
