Personal space is the space between my body and someone else’s body. It helps people feel safe and calm.
Sometimes I want to be close to other people, but it’s important that I respect theirpersonal space.

Entering someone’s personal space is often only permitted for close friends and family members.
If I go into a person’s personal space uninvited, it can make them feeluncomfortable or unsafe.

Sometimes, I am in invited into my friends’ personal space, like when we areplaying together.

It is important for me to pay attention to signals that will let me know when aperson no longer wants me in their personal space.
Those signals can include pulling away from my touch, backing away from where Iam standing, verbally telling me to “Stop” or making an unhappy facial expression.

When I see these signals, I can give people their personal space by keeping myhands to myself and by standing an arm’s length distance away from them.
When I give people personal space, they feel happy and safe.

When people feel happy and safe around me, they will want to spend time with meand be my friend.
