- Meanwhile, a group of fairies led by King Oberon and Queen Titania inhabit the same forest. Oberon and Titania are at odds over a young changeling boy. Oberon decides to play a trick on Titania using a magical flower that causes love at first sight.

- Oberon instructs his mischievous servant, Puck, to use the flower's potion on various characters to create chaos. However, Puck mistakenly anoints the eyes of Lysander and Demetrius, causing both to fall in love with Helena.
