Well it's illegal because of it's effects. You can get HPPD which are flashbacks, and Persistent Psychosis. You can also get two short term effects such as hallucinating, and you can hear stuff that isn't there.

Why do you care if I take some mushrooms? I mean all were gonna do is smoke some of them and drink it. It will be like normal food
I don't know if I can hang out with you if you go down this path. Taking hallucinogens will weaken your body, and it will make you feel depressed

Yes it is a big deal. Hallucinogens, especially marijuana, is at an all time high. 4.7% young adults use hallucinogens, and I don't want you to be part of that statistic.
