- I can't wait to hang with my friends today!

- I was excited to go on the Freshman Service Trip to a homeless shelter because it was going to be a day to be with my fellow class mates away from school!
- When we arrived downtown we got off the bus and got into groups to see what building we were going into.
- After being escorted to the Public/Private section we began to serve food to the private group first.
- You're Ugly!
- People started to flow in and it got really hectic because everyone wanted to eat all at the same time and it got a little overwhelming!
- Whew!
- Trays started stacking up and I had to run over to the counter and grab them from falling over!
- There was a break in the food service but water needed to be refilled from the large gallon containers and poured into cups for people to drink.
- Wow, that was quite an experience!
- After we got done feeding the private homeless group, the public homeless group started coming in.
- That was really insightful
- I was surprised how many homeless there were
- The public group was larger so it was even more over whelming!
- As I am serving a elderly woman, a little girl comes up and calls my friend LJ ugly. Our first reaction was to to laugh at her comment but later when I thought about her I felt sad that she was so angry when we were only trying to help her.
- Please provide help to those in need whenever you can!
- After about 5 more minuets of serving, we were down to our last 10 people. It had been a busy day!
- We finally finished and after cleaning up our work stations we walked back to the other shelter to meet up with the other group.
- While we were served lunch I kept thinking about all the people I met and was wondering about their lives and how they ended up homeless.
- When we were all done eating, we went outside and sat down in a circle and talked about our experience.
- I really liked helping people
- After talking a lot about what we learned, we got up and walked to the bus which we would take back to Cathedral Catholic High School.
- After serving the homeless, I felt really good because I got to help and meet a lot of people in need that were very thankful for us volunteering . I realize how fortunate I am and it is eye opening that there are many others who are less fortunate. Whenever possible, I will help those in need whenever I can.
- What started out as a day trip away from school with classmates turned inspirational. Always lend a helping hand!
