התחלת יחידה או שיעור בעזרת אוצר המילים העיקרי בהבנה ובשימור הכללי. בפעילות זו התלמידים ייצרו לוח סיפור המגדיר וממחיש אוצר מילים המצוי בספר. התלמידים ייצרו מפת עכביש של 3-5 מונחים על פי שיקול דעתם של המורים. כל תא יכיל מונח או רמיזה, הגדרתו או תיאורו, והמחשה מתאימה.
