- Call 911 immediately. Check the child's breathing and ensure the airway is open.
- Kneel beside the child.
- Place the heel of one hand on the center of the child's chest. Then, place the heel of the other hand on top of the first hand, and lace your fingers together. Deliver 30 quick compressions that are each about 2 inches deep.
- Deliver 2 rescue breaths. With the head tilted back slightly and the chin lifted, pinch the child's nose shut, make a complete seal by placing your mouth over the child's mouth and breathe into the child's mouth twice.
- Keep going. Continue these steps until you see obvious signs of life and breathing has returned.
- Take the child to the hospital to get the child checked by a doctor.
