- 1The cockatrice live on a grassy plane. They have a genetic variation in their colour of their skin and scales.
- 2The cockatrice produced a large number of offspring, more than the ecosystem could support. Not all offspring will survive seeing resources are limited.
- 3The cockatrice are hunted by flying predators, shimas. The white cockatrice are easily noticed in the grassy planes, unlike the green cockatrice that blend in well with the environment.
- 4Since the green cockatrice blend in with the grassy planes they have the best chances of survival while the white cockatrice are much more easily spotted making it easier for their predators to hunt them down.
- 5the predator will continue to feed on the white cockatrice because they are easily spotted. The white will slowly die off whereas the green cockatrice will reproduce a large majority of the population because there are more of them left. They will pass down their characteristics to their offspring.
- 6Eventually the whole population developed green skin and scales meaning they were able to camoflauge in their environment. Their characteristics increased their chances of survival.
