June 3rd 1906 Josephine Baker is born In St. Luis Missouri.
As a kid Josephine didn't have acsess good education. So through the ages 8-10 she would babysit for wealthy white families to support her family.
Josephine's shows weren't just limited to the stage. During the German occupation of France she entertained troops in Africa and them middle east. She was later awarded for her efforts
Because of her childhood Josephine became moreindependent at the age of 16 she began touring with a dance troupe from Philadelphia. Se went on the join many performances like this and sang professionally for the first time in 1930.
However, her first challenge came when she went to bring her talent to US when she was overcome with a wave of hate and racism and soon returned to france
Josephine Adopted 12 children who she called the "rainbow tribe"
In 1963 Josephine Baker was granted permission to speak at the march on Washington for jobs and freedom. Her speech went into detail about what her life as a black woman has been like. She continued to fight for racial justice through her performances. She sadly passed in her sleep, which ended her career. However, she will be remembered as an individual that changed the world by promoting the idea that people of all ethnicities can coexist in harmony
