The sons of Liberty would use violence and torture to scar off tax collectors, mainly they would burn their houses to protest against the stamp act in 1765.
Due to the raising chaos, more and more British soldiers were being sent all over the 13 colonies. With no hotels at the time, Colonist were forced to let British soldiers in their house by Parliament. They had to provide them with shelter, food, and bedding. This led Colonist to become outrage and severely frighten.
Not to long after the quartering act, two years later on the year of 1767 the king enforced a new law called the townshed act. This forced colonist to pay tax on everyday items like paper, led, silk, tea and more.
