- Remove the court-cupboard!
- The servants rush around, clearing up after the meal. Sampson and Gregory criticise their fellow servants, and Sampson bosses the others around.
- 'tis he, that villain Romeo.
- Let him alone.
- Lord Capulet welcomes his guests to the ball and encourages them to dance. He teases the shy ladies and says that if they don't dance people will think that they have corns on their feet.
- Romeo catches sight of Juliet. He is stunned by Juliet's beauty and feels an instant attraction: love at first sight.
- My life is my foe's debt!
- Tybalt sees Romeo and recognises him as a Montague. He becomes very angry but Lord Capulet orders him to do nothing.
- Romeo approaches Juliet for the first time and they kiss.
- The Nurse interrupts with a message that Juliet's mother wishes to speak to her. Romeo asks the Nurse who Juliet is and, to his horror, learns that she is a Capulet.
