- Using all their savings to purchase their home, Kate and John live paycheck to paycheck, despite both having full-time jobs as a teacher and electrician. They have little left over for emergencies.
- Like many other families, Kate and John began to experience hardships. Kate lost her job as a teacher. Their home took a hard hit after a bad storm. With few options left, they decided on a quick fix. The damage was not properly repaired, but they were able to keep their insurence.
- Over time the damage grew, and so did the cost. Stuck in the same position with even fewer options left, Kate tried to think of what to do. Without making these repairs, they would lose their insurance, and be forced to leave their home.
- Kate ran into her neighbor, who told her about Rebuilding Together of Central Florida. After applying, Rebuilding Together made critical repairs to Kate and Johns's home. Kate and John now live in a safe and healthy home again. They plan to raise their family, grow old, and pass their home down to their kids.
